This is what our schedule has looked like over the past 3 days (times from when we arrive at the center through the rest of the day are approximate):
7:30-8:00am Individual Devotions all covering the same passage and questions
8:00-8:30am Breakfast - eggs, sausage, omelette, toast, coffee, juice (sounds good and it is :)
8:30-8:45am Quick meeting to review the plan for the day
8:45-9:40am In the bus on the way to Malawi Children's Mission (MCM)
9:40-10:15am WARM welcome from waving kids as we arrive at MCM, carrying in our bags, water, lunches, followed by free play
10:15-10:30am Gathering in the main center hall for welcome, singing and a prayer to start the day
10:30-11:30am 3 TKA Teams rotate each day through:
a) Village visit - to a home of one or a few of the MCM kids in one of the 3 Villages - Jamali, M'Bwana or Mwazama - to see where the MCM kids live and learn first hand about the living conditions, economic hardships and food shortages
b) Pre-school program - a simplified version of the afternoon Bible Club program with the older kids
c) Center chores - chopping veggies for the children's lunch, carrying water, clearing rubble from the renovation that is happening in the kitchen/cooking area
11:30am-12:15pm Free play
12:15-1:15pm Lunch - the MCM kids are called up by Standard (Grade) level to wash their hands and collect their plate of food (ensema, which is made from maize, beans and cabbage) and a cup of water. The TKA Team takes turns eating our sandwiches, fruit and chips while the others sit with the kids
1:15-3:15pm 3 TKA Teams rotate with 3 MCM Standard (Grade) level Groups through:
a) Bible Club program - includes singing, Bible teaching and Testimony by TKA Students and fun crafts
b) English program - fun games (e.g. hangman) and songs (head, shoulders, knees and toes...) that allow learning, speaking and writing of English words and phrases
c) Games - soccer, relays, all sorts of ball and parachute games
3:15-3:30pm Gathering in the main center hall for welcome, singing and a prayer to start the day
3:30-4:30pm On the bus on the way home to Annie's Lodge - laughter, sleeping, stories, songs ... :)
4:30-5:45pm Free time - showers to CLEAN up after a busy day, then hang out time
5:45-7:30pm Dinner - the last 3 nights have been at our Friend's restaurant which means a lively bus trip there and back :)
7:30-8:30pm Evening Meeting - Worship, reflection, prayer, devotion and review of the next day
8:30-9:00pm Free time - more Worship, card games, hang out time
BED TIME - to rest up for the next day of the adventure God has us on serving the Precious Children of Malawi ...
We are SO proud of our amazing and fun Team and their dedication to loving on and sharing their love for Jesus with the MCM kids and their compassion for the needs of the community !!!!
